Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome

Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. It’s a problem; but neither side is talking about solutions. It’s become too politically charged an issue. Conservatives are afraid to talk about it because Liberals use it as the reason we shouldn’t be in Iraq. Meanwhile it’s a national epidemic and its not limited to veterans of the Iraqi war. WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan – each war produced casualties. And the living casualties need attention. They need someone to start talking about solutions and step up to help.

There’s a stigma to mental illness. If you’ve had problems in the past, had counseling, etc. its hard to shake that stigma. This leads to obvious problems. Folks hide things. This leads to more problems because we can’t deal with it. No one talks about it. If we can remove the stigma we can actually help.

There’s a reality to war. There are casualties. The casualties aren’t just death. Wounded can be wounded in many ways. There are people who fake it. People try to beat the system. But they are the minority.

Enter Major General Robert F. Dees, Executive Director of Military Ministry. He’s a man on a mission and he’s making a change for the better in the lives of our service men and women.

According to the Major Genera, 1 out of 4 homeless individuals is a veteran. Our service men and women risk their lives and their minds for our freedom. What have you done for our vets?
